How to clean plaster ceiling?


Are you going to clean whole house? Start cleaning with ceiling and then walls, doors, windows, cabinets, furniture and floors. The ceiling is cleaned first to protect walls, furniture and floors from dust marks. It is a tough job and depends on dust or dirt accumulated on the surface of ceiling. This article tells you some tips to clean plaster or concrete surface ceiling.

Steps to clean plaster ceiling

Step 1: Utilize vacuum cleaner for cleaning plaster or concrete ceilings. In this process, vacuum hose is attached to the end of broom handle by taping.
Step 2: Take hosepipe near ceiling using a high level stool or folding stair and clean the ceiling with vacuum cleaner. 
Step 3: For manual cleaning, clean the ceiling with the help of broom tied with old flannel cloth. Use this device to dust ceiling and start from one end to the other end by switching to clean areas of flannel.
Step 4: Clean stained areas of the ceiling with the help of peroxide solution or by using diluted bleach solution. After application of solution, sponge the cleaned area. 

Precautions while cleaning plaster ceiling

  1. Cover furniture, floors and fixtures with cloths, polythene sheets or with any other covering material to protect them from droppings.  
  2. Avoid using ladder or stool for cleaning instead use long handle device.
  3. Always wash ceilings before washing walls and floors to avoid dirt fall on clean walls and floors.  
  4. Wear rubber gloves with cuff for safeguard of hands while cleaning the ceiling with liquid cleaner.   
  5. Utilize goggles or cloth to protect eyes while cleaning the ceiling.   
  6. Ensure that no drips of water or cleaning agent run on the walls. 
  7. Never rub cobwebs on ceiling or walls for cleaning as it will spoil the finishing leaving ugly marks on the surface.
